Goodbye India

I have uploaded a bunch of pictures. Click on the thumbs to see large.

We are now at OBT bungalow and we are leaving for Delhi this afternoon. We watched a video of a BBC production called "The Lost World of the Raj". It is not lost. We are living in it here at the OBT bungalow. This bungalow is featured in the production. Judy's servant form her time here as a child was interviewed. He is actually still here working as a dog trainer. His first job, at 12 years old was as a punka walla. A punka is a large blanket that is hung from the high ceiling and is pulled back and forth by a rope that is tied to the punka wallas foot...an old fashioned fan. It has been an amazing experience staying here, living amoungst history. Even more amazing is that this is the life Judy was born into.
I am happy to be heading home but sad to be leaving India. We are leaving just in time as it is starting to get hot and it will probably be in the high 30's or 40 in a few weeks. Yesterday we had supper at the Relish, the restaurant at the Resort Hotel Deluxe where we stayed in January. It was fun seeing all the staff there that we became attached to. The CD from Raja Hindustanis movie that we saw 11 years ago here in Mirzapur was put on. I started crying when the song "paradesi paradesi jana nahin" started playing(" foreigner, foreigner, please don't go).
Love from India,
Ross
